Here’s Lookin At Hallelujah 2007 – St.Stephen’s Mission to UnBog New Orleans: The Blog
What difference does it make? We ARE the difference.WhoWhatWhenWhereWhyHOWHOWHOW…how?
Who:
This page was created for and kept up by the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church of Seattle’s EYC (Episcopal Youth Congregation).
What:
Formed originally to present the play-by-play of a 2007 mission trip to New Orleans, it has evolved into the consequences of going on such a profound journey.
When:
The trip to New Orleans from Seattle began July 6th and ended July 14th, 2007.
Where:
The St. Stephen’s contingent stayed at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in the Lakeview District of New Orleans, an affluent, predominantly white, Katrina’d neighborhood that had rebuilt and served as a base to launch numerous rebuilding-volunteer trips. The houses worked on by our trip were located in the 7th & 9th Wards.
Why:
This trip was undertaken for innumerable reasons including , to serve the needs of others in charitable and familial human kindness, as a challenge to the participants, as good will, to explore the rest of the country, poverty, seeming chaos, “reality”, and the work of The Way to bring all together as one in God.
Howhowhow:
By the grace of the peace that passes beyond comprehension.
…how?
Thank you to the St. Stephen’s congregation and friends for supporting this journey, funding materials necessary to rebuild homes, and keeping us in your hearts! Thanks to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Orleans for serving to host us in the city! Thanks to Michael Harrington, the Youth Minister, for helping the trip together! Thanks to the participants who saw the trip through every step of the way, including planning, fundraising, and the enaction!
