time

lastnight i was at roosevelts home coming game and then the dance. it was all going so fast that we had to change in the car while driving. let me tell you its not safe. then my friends and i came home to six girls watching movies in my guest room. i was realy confused. then i was thinking and i realised that this hapens allot we get to wraped up in stuff and run out of time. thats part of the reason we forget neworleans.

our trip!

new orleans was a great trip for multiple reasons. one was i got to see part of what is going on outside seattle. being one of the many who dont watch the news so i hardly know whats going on outside seattle. but i will tell you even if i was watching the news every single night i would not hear a word about neworleans.the world has moved on and left them in the dust to pick up the pieces allone and drag themselfs back.  i garrantee that if the same thing hapend to us we would be back to normal by now. so it is our job to use our resources to help re build and we got to do that in neworleans and i cant wate to do it again

patterns

we live in patterns. we build our lives around what we are comforterable with. and what people expect of you. sometimes its fun to mix it up for a day just do something you are not comfortable doing. wether thats smiling and saying hi to someone who you wouldnt or thats  moving somewere new it realy makes life beter. i think we should all try it.

STEPPING OUTSIDE OUR COMFORT ZONES!

in our society people live in patterns take me for example? i wake up at the same time every morning then go to school do the same classes etc… everyone is guilty of it. today i was thinking and i thought when was the last time i mixed it up a little and i couldnt remember. i guess we all get in a pattern and i think we should all step outside our comfort zone when ever we can so today i did. i said hi to someone who treated me poorly and hurt me. and by doing it i showed that i have moved on and it helped me allot. neworleans was outside my comfort zone and it was the most amazing experience i have had ever. it opend my eyes to what was going on outside our home.

thoughts of today…

school and life is so full of drama such as what girl likes who and who is mad at who. and it is the stupidest thing on earth and i am so sick of it  when their is real stuff to wory about like the millions starving and dying every day think about it.

Media

The media today aren’t bringing us the news that we all need to see and hear. We are only seeing and hearing what is interesting to the mass public. If these news stations can bring in a lot of viewers and obtain mass amounts of money, then it does not matter what is aired as long as they maintain the viewers and the constant flowing of cash. So it is our job to do something about it and present the world with news that we think is important in making a difference.

Network news, cable news, and any other news on television are pretty much corrupt and serve the large corporations of this country. These corporations are owned by the leaders of this country. So basically the news we are getting now are what are approved by our leaders to show on air. And I thought news was supposed to be totally objective. Well the internet is not bought out yet and it is the only chance for us now to send out news that the people deserve and need.

So let’s do what we can to learn about the situation and post the news that matters instead of the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan or whether OJ Simpson guilty. If we don’t like what our current leaders are ding with this country and world, then we need to do something about it.

War vs. re build what is more important?

i do not in any way support the war we are currently fighting.

hurricane katrina killed and devistated so many people. turned the whole of neworleans upside down and shook it like it was a snow globe. and for a wile the government paused as if deciding to care or not to care. and they momentarily opend the eyes of america to the disaster. but then the war soon replaced the huricane in peoples minds. and neworleans was forgoten left to fend for there selves.

9/11 was a memorable day in america. it hapend in newyork. in a place where white and wealthy people are known to dominate. years later we still stop to remember this day.

katrina happend over 2 years ago and since it innitaly happend i have not seen anyone stop to remember. no one except the groups who go to help re build and the people who where effected by it.

tell me why is it that we can put millions into a war wich i am not entirely sure our own government knows our reasons for fighting. we are doing to iraq what katrina did to neworleans. and we are not a natural disaster. we have no excuse and nothing to hide behind.we are killing millions and and tearing appart civilization. and why? we clame its for allot of reasons.

the millions we spend on this war could be helping to rebuild neworleans and find a way to keep it from happening again. but instead we spend it in creating a simmilar disaster for another place.and if you ask me something is wrong with that!

First Post Since Our Trip

hey its sophie!

Neworleans was an eye opening experience for me and im sure everyone who went.

for once it made me think about what it would be like to loose everything.

I mean think about what it would be like to loose everything, and if you did loose everything would you come back. and imagine two years later living in a FEMA trailer. with little to no progress on your house. imagine having a government that doesnt care. imagine being forgotten. then imagine having a group of kids who want to make a difference come and help you re build your home. and help get you out of this trailer.

I have done allot of talking to friends and family and thinking about this. And These people can be remembered but they are forgoten because this no one is speaking up. Someone needs to make a difference and that someone is us. because if anyone can make the difference we can. so st stephens now is the time to speak up and get the word out that we need to remember neworleans.
